Kevin McCloud was born in Bedfordshire, England on May 8, 1959, which means he just turned 62. His love for architecture began at a young age and he was inspired by the period buildings of his primary and secondary schools. He then studied art and architecture at the University of Cambridge before starting his career in television in the late 90s.

The TV personality was previously married for 23 years to Suzanna McCloud, an interior designer. The couple met when Kevin was in his thirties and married in 1996, just a few years before Kevin got his big chance on Great designs.

What awards has Kevin McCloud won?
In 2005, the presenter received an honorary doctorate in design from two universities – Oxford Brookes and Plymouth University. In the following years he received an honorary scholarship from the Royal Institute of British Architects.
In 2014, he received an MBE for sustainable design services and the renovation of energy efficient properties.
